"Immersion in the life of the world, a willingness to be inhabited by and to speak for others, including those beyond the realm of the human, these are the practices not just of the bodhisattva but of the writer." --Jane Hirshfield

Holiday Shopping for Writers

Thanks to Ju'nen for leading met to this fab collection of book purses. Even if it is a bit naughty to gut hardcovers and make them into fashion items. I had a moment of rejecting the idea, then came around thinking it's a fact that many hardcovers get remaindered, then sent to the trash. Why not make something fun out of them? It's recycling.

Cute idea. I wish they used some better literature. Tolstoy is the only one any of my friends would want to carry on their arm.

Wouldn't it be great if they turned Karl Marx into a book purse? That would be the true triumph of capitalism.

I love that idea, and give one to Paris Hilton.

I'd like the entire Remembrance of Things Past as a set, in different colors, for different moods and different outfits. But I doubt I'd ever use any of them. I like a small, sturdy black purse for everyday. Still....

When I saw the words "small, sturdy black purse" I thought of the Homeopathic Materia Medica (a small, sturdy black book).

Thanks for posting.
